When I grow up…
Every time an adult would ask me what I wanted to be when I grow up I said hockey player. As I became older I realized I’d have to do something else along with it, since female hockey get paid very little or not at all. But then after a while when playing hockey wasn’t even possible anymore due to injuries I was faced with real life and the real question of “what will I be when I grow up?”
Moving forward.
There is always a point in life or just a moment in time when you realize what you want to do…..that just hasn’t come for me yet haha. I know I want to work with people, I know I want to make a difference, and I want to be creative. I started wanting to be a teacher, and then a day care teacher, then somehow in marketing, and now something involving PR. (Which is the program I will be taking in September 2012). But recently after becoming more active and more caring with my body I’ve really enjoyed fitness. I even work at my local yoga studio in exchange for a free membership! (Yes, I know, awesome!) Working there has really been amazing and I know not all jobs are butterflies and cupcakes but I really feel that somehow working in the fitness industry might be something for me…I think LOL.
When?
When do you actually know what you want to do? Before school? After school? When your 20? (I’m 20) When your 50? Its a journey that I feel is both amazing and scary. But we embrace the good experiences and learn from the bad. I just hope that I have the opportunity to work somewhere that I love, people see that I love it, and make them feel the way my yoga teachers make me feel….confident, powerful, and strong.
So really I don’t know what I want to be yet. But I feel like once something feels right, I will know.
